Quillcast: Your Words. Your Podcast. Your Voice.
I listen to a lot of podcats. I read a lot of news. There are times when one is more appropriate than the other, like going for a walk in the park. Unfortunately, there are times when I’ve listened to every podcast in my queue. I’d like to be able to catch up on news without having to constantly look down.
So what if I could listen to articles using text-to-speech? I can already do that, albeit with a robotic voice and occasionally bad pronunciations. Yet something feels missing compared to the audio-native podcast. Each podcast episode has a different host using their own unique voice to stand out.
What if I could listen to articles using the actual voice of the author, automatically generated using text-to-speech?
I’m launching a new tool called Quillcast that aims to do that.
With many years working in voice technology, on the Google Assistant developer program, I gained a great understanding of how voice tech works and how to use it to maximize the overall quality of the generated output.
Quillcast works best for those writing newsletters. You can just send an email to us just like every other subscriber. That immediately begins the process to synthesize an episode. After that, it becomes immediately available for all podcast listeners through a custom feed. The whole thing takes about five minutes.
This can be a great way to grow your brand and upsell your free subscribers to paid members. In addition to all the other perks you might have, they get audio versions of every article they can take anywhere. This platform is meant to be transparent, so you can download every episode from our dashboard and upload it to a preferred channel instead.
This service is entirely opt-in, and I want to work with writers directly to ensure the quality of each episode meets the high bar I’ve set out for myself. After filling out our contact form, I will reach out to schedule some time to walk through the setup process. After the voice cloning process, you’ll be ready to get started. I will be working closely with each writer to make sure everything sounds just right.
There are three payment tiers depending on what kind of newsletter you have. Those who write many short posts may prefer the Poet tier while those who write infrequent, in-depth articles would prefer the Novelist tier. They’ve been designed to maximize benefits while minimizing the infrastructure costs.
This is a great service, and while I read a number of newsletters whose authors could benefit, I know there’s a wide ecosystem of writers on the web that I don’t know about. Quillcast offers an affiliate service to work with, and reward, those who refer new signups to our service. I hope it will be a good method to meet new people and learn new things.
This entire space of generative AI has gotten good enough to the point where we can start seeing new products and services built on top of it. Quillcast is one of those. I look forward to you trying it out.
